Design for Manufacturing

Loukas Medical, Inc. (LMI) will provide the design of proprietary orthopedic surgical implant and instrument designs for sale, or modification, to Orthopedic OEM companies.  LMI has many years of experience with orthopedic implants and instruments.  We have worked with physicians, engineers, the FDA and hundreds of OEM orthopedic companies.  These products include, but are not limited to:

• Spinal Implant Systems.  The founder and president of LMI has personally worked, or been in surgery with, many of the past presidents of NASS.  Having been in the spine industry since the mid 1980s he is very familiar with the needs and requirements of spinal surgery.  Bring your designs to LMI for review and/or a complete redesign.
• Molded Silicone Rubber Handles.  These handles will be ergonomically designed and be made in various sizes to fit existing sterilization containers.  Using the latest rapid prototype processes, the designs will be thoroughly tested prior to commitment of expensive insert mold manufacture.
• Ratcheting Mechanisms.  It is the intent to design ratcheting mechanisms with smoothness and torque loads surpassing current market designs.
• Torque Instruments.  The current offering of torque instruments has serious limitations.  Among these are re-calibration, lubrication, accuracy and user variances.  We are designing instruments intended to overcome these limitations.
• Spinal Implant Instruments.  We will support the rapidly growing need for the latest MIS and Open surgical needs in this field.  We can also quickly design a standard set of pedicle screw instruments.
• OEM Designed Instruments.  This is a large portion of the OEM instrument market.  Loukas Medical can also assist in the design of OEM specific instruments.
